Rio Classic Fly Line
For the past five years I've been trying to find a fly line that would last me more than just a few months. Most fly lines on the market offer excellent casting designs however it seems that most are also prone to premature cracking.
About a year ago I decided to try a Rio Classic weight forward floating fly line manufactured by Rio Products of Idaho Falls, Idaho. As soon as I opened the box I was pleased. Rio is the first fly line company to listen to the needs of it's costumers. The first company to have produced a fly line in a color that doesn't require any doctoring, tinkering, or dying prior to use. Rio calls it Camo Green but what they really have come up with is marvelous olive color. No more standing at the kitchen stove blending and mixing various shades of Rit dye then boiling it, letting it cool a bit then timing the immersion of the line to achieve the desired olive color. Rio has made it easy!
Not only is the color perfect but after using it for nearly a year through a variety of fishing conditions and weather elements I still find my Rio Classic weight forward fly line in excellent shape. It still remains almost as supple as when first taken from its box. After nearly a year and seeing almost two hundred days of fishing the Rio Line has just now started to develop a few minor cracks which has plagued other fly lines after only a month. I intend to replace this line for my season opener on the Firehole River at the end of May with another Rio Classic but until then I have many more baetis to cast over the weary browns and rainbows at DePuy's Spring Creek.
This should be your standard fly line. I would recommend it to everyone.
