Wild Fishing In Wild
Places
By Adrian
Latimer
Reveiwed by: Bob Kloskowski
While reading through the pages of Wild Fishing in Wild
Places, I found myself watching Adrian Latimer mature from a
child into an adult and from a novice into a fine fly
fisher. From the purchase of his first rod and reel as a
twelve year old in the early seventies through the
development of his casting a skills on his uncles lawn
in Devon I felt that I was traveling by his side. From
chapter to chapter as his knowledge of tackle and fishing
increased so did his success as an angler. I found myself
envious of his first Scottish salmon, a seventeen and a half
pound firm silver beauty from the Craigpot pool.
A brief fishing trip to the
hallowed chalkstreams of southern England leaves Adrian with
disappointed after witnessing the management practices on
these legionary fisheries.
We traveled from one fishing
experience to another learning a great deal along the way.
Experiences that were shared willingly and freely be they
good or bad. A fishing trip in Bermuda to be avoided yet a
wonderful trip and learning experience in Venezuela for
bonefish.
In Chapter 18, Adrian shares an
interesting insight about Female Lingerie and fly fishing.
Something called the Pheromone
Theory.
While traveling and fishing with
Adrian through the pages of this book from Iceland to
Montana with many wild places in between, I found this book
both well written and informative. My only disappointment
was that only one chapter was dedicated to fly fishing in
Montana however as a resident of Montana I found that
chapter to be an accurate depiction of the fishing and
topography.
A very enjoyable book with much to
be gained from within its pages and with all future
sales going to the North Atlantic Salmon Fund.
